Ever worked as a temporary employee to earn money during college? Well, I felt just like a temp at Aramco. That feeling you get when you aren't really part of the team and are just there to do work that nobody else wants to do. Some examples of things that happened to people I knew:
Expat being assigned to a remote job site, not having a drivers license yet, and being written up for tardiness because of the bus schedule. The Saudi boss won't hear any explanations. Temps are not dependable. Expat ended up quitting a couple weeks into the job.
Expat being excluded for a meeting about a task he will be required to perform that will cause him and his family to miss their repat. Expat told by Saudi boss only at the last minute. Saudi boss declines compensation for tickets purchased and even refuses to allow leave days to be carried into the next year. Temps don't deserve benefits. Expat quits.
Expat blamed for a task not getting done when a high level executive asked about it. Expat had sent NUMEROUS emails to his Saudi boss telling him that the task needed to be done and the support he needed to do the task. Nobody listens to the temp. In the end, Expat downsized, boss promoted.
Expat hired for a position to no longer existed when he got to the Kingdom. Expat was then assigned to do something completely unrelated to his skillset. Just stick the temp anywhere. Expat did not make it through his probationary period and was sent back home.
Temp work is usually the last choice of employment for a very good reason. These workers are hired for a specific project or task, and then just dumped when the work is done. Please don't move half way across the world for temp work.
