No more industry heads and coneheads, that is the word. The title has lost its meaning at Citi due to the sheer abundance of these roles.

The problem is the pay structure. Example: In order to pay someone equivalent to the market standard you have to bring them in with a higher title. Often times with no direct reports. OR “you’ve been here for a while Frank, you gotta move up with a title change in order to put into a category that’ll enable you to get more money.
For me, I don’t care what title you give me, so long as the money is right.
100+K as a TechGuy lead, sure great, whatever.
You want to change my title to Analyst II at 100+K, sure, no issue there either.
