Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Ohh it's our fault GF is floundering

"We're a consumer led spending industry. If the consumers (us peasants) are not going to take their disposable income and put it into more cars, more electronics, and smart phone refreshes, it's gonna delay us."

Well, if I only had thought about that! Let me just set aside the pittance GF has so graciously bestowed upon my bank account and buy more useless garbage. Oh, what's that children? You're hungry? Sorry, GF demands more spending!! I'm sure I'll get my raise and promotion if I buy the Iphone 43 part 8 XL, now with landline feature. 8% mortage rates? Move back in with mommy and daddy! Oh, they're renting their spare room to the nice family of 5 so they can afford heat? Buy a camper! Wait, those are going for $150,000 USD over asking price? Well, pitch a tent. The summers are getting longer, the winters are getting warmer and we're getting fu---d.

And the worst of the lot is the famous I ferain who is now a VP for technology and integration which will take us further down the drain and the other one is A tewari who is leading portfolio integration who has no semiconductor background other than GF. So the MO is let’s spend more money on McKinsey and let the amateurs make decisions

Isn’t it his job to for see and plan for such economic factors? Isn’t it his job and others in STL to know this, predict this, see this potentially occurring and plan for it accordingly ?! This is such a sophomoric response to what is happening. It’s their job to plan and have contingencies, strategies and redundancies for these type of environmental shifts in the economy. It is just another example of how inept and incompetent our leadership is. There are so many different tactics and strategies that could apply to mitigate such turmoil.

This statement is also insulting because it is just like how one explains bad news to a child. It shows what they really think about our intelligence level and hope we buy the explanation no question.

"I'm old enough to remember when promotions were merit based."

and there was no censorship

slightly more integrity

less national debt

and a brighter future

in 2 or 3 decades the US went into a steep nosedive
i am not sure what is worse - to never have something good or
to have something good and watch it dissolve before your own eyes

GF's SLT are a bunch of never has been and never will be people. There is zero vision and no roadmap for GF. However, the SLT members continue to bleed the company dry while doing nothing to help GF succeed. Basically, you have a bunch of drunken sailors driving the Titanic, this won't end well.

Where the fu-k do we find these people? (CFO, SLT, etc). How do they skate by so long and get so far under the radar with this ridiculous rhetoric to reach their positions? It’s crazy
