Lmao what?! It is a known fact that in 201 the exhaust for the building (think lab hoods) is designed in a way that because of wind/air flow that it goes directly into the air intake for the building. As far as I’m aware, they spent a lot of $$ trying to figure out the problem, and when they did they just ignored it because the cost to fix it would’ve been tremendous. AFAIK they haven’t fixed it…..
Trust the process
I have never known the company to skim on safety. Truely unfortunate incident.
@Varys, re Alexandria…
Investigation Summary
Investigation Nr: 143858.015
Event: 02/08/2022
Employee Is Ki-led When Caught In Slitter
At 3:40 a.m. on February 8, 2022, an employee was running sand paper through the I Slitter Winder. The I Slitter is used to flex the sand paper by bending it around a series of rollers and finally wrapping around a cardboard tube on the winder bar. The employee had loaded an empty cardboard tube on the winder bar and had run about 40 feet of a 50-foot roll, when he was caught by the winder bar. The employee received fatal injuries as he was wrapped around the bar multiple times. The employee had an arm nearly amputated and broken bones in the face and chest.
Sickening…
Really that fine should be at least 10 times bigger, if not 100 times.
Also what is up with the Abrasives plants? Wasn't there another fatality last year at Alexandria?
Yep- all boils down to cost- no money available to fix obvious issues despite all their claims about keeping people safe🙄 even if there is money available Value Stream managers don’t want to stick their necks out and use it. It’s like putting a target in their backs and they’d rather roll the dice and put people at risk to make a few extra percent in their yields.

Happens when a company has as only real priority COST. Safety and quality are only in the speeches. Plant people have to be begging for CAPEX to improve safety and quality.
