Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Executive Committee (posting without names)

Now that I have lost my net worth - and daughter's tuition - we can all look back at the thousands of lab colleagues, business and supply chain friends who lost their jobs due to team performance - fired in 50s, bullied/pressured out, etc - but there is little scrutiny and self awareness of the abysmal performance of the most important team, the Executive Committee. Particularly in Austin, at the the next town meeting - if there is one - the President should explain the lack of leadership and performance of this team that drained the safety net of every employee. A great kick off from Austin would be a public apology by the operating committee. If we are still having these meetings, I will go to that one.

Did they stop holding townhalls in Austin because the JLL team is incapable of operating the conference room systems? The last one I tried connecting to in June or July was a technical flop. Echoing audio followed by no sound. The slides were either out of sync, not showing, or you got some random camera shot pointing at the ceiling. How does that help deliver a global message?

It sure fits the logic behind the new "global standard" EWS is trying to achieve. They finally opened a facility in Austin that had the amenities and systems to improve collaboration with employees and customers, and then sh_t can the people who can run it and replace them with people who can't.

JLL provides little if any true savings. It's just a move from direct to indirect spend. Clients are paying more and getting less. Winning.

Do you always kick people when they are down? Hindsight is always 20/20.

You cannot blame anyone except yourself, for not selling your shares when it was way above $200.

The view from outside is that only the best and brightest, the so called high potentials, eventually make the executive grade in a corporate setting.

Working in 3M over the last 25 years, I have seen mostly mediocre to average folks, many of them utter failures at the bench level, move into management (quick and easy promotions, take the easy way out....who wants to work in the lab anyway...i am better off making ppt. slides and work my magic on other MS office tools to promote growth and strategy...). Eventually these are the people who move to executive levels.

Don't except stellar performance from them. At their core is their intrinsic mediocrity plus they have accumulated excessive corporate greed over the years!

3M outsourced Austin to JLL. A few points regarding that, outsourcing erodes company loyalty. It has a negative effect on company culture. (lower productivity). There's a high risk of exposing confidential data and technology. A lack of customer focus, fix all companies like JLL serve many companies and multiple organizations at a time. Therefore, they may lack a complete focus on your organization’s tasks and job assignments. Loss of control, delays are the new normal. And finally the endless hidden costs, which negates the whole point of outsourcing everything which was to cut costs. But remember to remain stoic we must disregard that which we cannot control.

3M executive committee not only took our net worth and children’s education, but our comfortable retirement and property values are plummeting in Woodbury/Maplewood/Oakdale metro areas.

Also facing intense inflation and tax burden.

I’m never going to be able to retire!
And I graduated college with no debt.

An embarrassment of riches for executives and shareholders.
