Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

I shouldn't have left my old job to join Schwab

I made a mistake. I know there's no use crying over spilled milk but I can't help but look back and think how much better off I would have been had I not rushed to accept a better paid job. My old company had no layoffs since I came here. The friends I'm still in touch with are happy and enjoying their work as I did once. I, on the other hand, am miserable. Learn a lesson from me kids: if your only guidance in looking for a new job is pay, there are more important things than that. Job security, good and transparent management, and a non-toxic work environment are among them.

at least now you have a Fortune 500 company on your resume. Recruiters usually drool over things like that :)

What’s that old saying? The grass is always greener somewhere else?

I'm looking at pay. I haven't heard good things about the company I am having some luck with but what company will I hear good things about? Might as well move and become more marketable than work with an archaic tech stack because a commitee decided implementing things that would make our job easier and more productive carries too much risk.

Sadly, there's no winners here. Now that you know you made a mistake, what's next? I was one of the laid off people... trying to figure out my next steps. If rather be in your shoes, but again, no real winners.
