Thread regarding VMware layoffs

You should learn from him

Next time you have an interview, watch closely how Hock Tan/AVGO answers tough questions and apply the same tactics.

Question: Is China going to approve the deal? Is there any issue with geopolitics similar to Intel-Tower or Qualcomm-NXP deals?

"Let me say this, I made those specific notes or remarks on regulatory approval. I ask that you think it through, read it through and let's stop right there."

Question: Did the US approve the deal? Why is the US missing from the list of countries that have approved the deal? Did you get consent orders like Amgen-Horizon or Ice-Black Knight deals that FTC decided not to challenge?

"There is no legal impediment to closing under U.S. merger regulations."

As they say, genius!

Oh dear! Oh dear! I struggle to see 'genius' in the meagre example given. Perhaps a dose of some media training for yourself in how to recognise a 'real' genius like Alan Turing or Frank Whittle and their contributions to the world. Me thinks not HT is in any genius league. 😉

But Uncle Hock said he is confident! If he says it's confident it's a done deal! US and China don't matter because Hock Tan is the true master of the world!

Hock Tan is a two-time loser because he is arrogant and unable to see the flaws of his failing response to concerns that this deal is only done in the interest of two filthy rich men who have no empathy for VMW employees or shareholders.

You should check your mental health when you call genius a guy that created such a mess in at viable and respected company like VMware. Now chaos and uncertainty prevail internally. At the same time you little genius is at the verge of losing billions. He's the one to be taught a good lesson… SOON

I remember reading that answer and to me it sounded really defensive and aggressive, as in he didn't like that a journalist pointed out that China had not approved of the deal meaning putting the whole thing at peril. While I don't feel sorry for him I cannot imagine being in his shoes where a second, huge acquisition falls through. Its BC's entire business model being shown as being defective if in the end it gets caught in a China-US trade war

It's called media training. Wouldn't surprise if just like you got training how to sit on a chair properly so you cannot sue VMware, means they have to have media training before talking to the press. Or of course he is just a natural, but even politicians have media training - learn how to never answer a question that could get back to you in any negative way.
