Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Do we just stop working?

Hi,

I'm from one of the Core teams supporting at a L3, if we all just stopped? Stopped taking P1s, P2-P3 etc what would actually happen? Managers can't let us all go and if everyone stopped working as a protest to this BS then they would have to do something.

I doubt you worked even before the acquisition. I hope the deal closes so Broadcom can purge all the incompetent people who are just collecting a paycheck for doing basically nothing.

Yup it was indeed refreshing to hear that for anyone who didn't get letters, go ahead and take care of yourselves while your day job is now low priority. This is way better than the VP of Commercial sending out emails saying business as usual so go to office and work your accounts.

Considering the sales all-hands call today, it seems like not working is what the higher ups expect this quarter. It was both refreshing and shocking to hear them say- “if you didn’t get an offer letter, now is the time to start networking and take care of yourself and your family. Your day to day duties will not come first, you need to do what’s best for you and your career.”

No one seems to have fired anyone ever at VMware for incompetence, in fact it is quite the opposite. You might end up with a promotion!

Jokes aside, many BUs were able to avoid a RIF earlier this year because they had laid off so many poor performers. We definitely cut a lot of dead weight in our division. It was PIP left and right all winter and spring.

So go ahead and take that advice. Stop working. See where that gets you.

Was there ever talks of a union? SIPTU is in Ireland for some companies, why doesn't VMware have a union

I stopped working a long time ago. It isn't because I don't want to work, but I'm in a customer facing role and the customers have gone missing.

Off you go... Best of luck with that. Put more stress on your team mates, alot of them who probably want to do their job. Grow up.

Sounds like somebody just figured out how collective bargaining works and is suggesting a union. ;)
