There is irony in companies forcing their employees back to the office after four years.
Anecdotal evidence shows a few friends who had been working from home for years before Covid began growing a bit tired of the WFH life after about three years. After five years all of them were ready to go back to the office at least half time. And they did.
Forcing employees to RTO just as many of them began to consider returning on their own is going to force resentment and drive their feelings backwards. It’s like if you were just about to paint that room but then your spouse asks you hey when are you going to paint that room. Well it was going to be painted later today but now I am not sure when it will be painted.
