Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Suspect it’s meant to say ‘didn’t know’ but the paragraphs of interest:

“The official said he did know if Yellen would raise the issue of the $69bn merger between chipmaker Broadcom and cloud software company VMware, which the companies delayed last week as they awaited regulatory approval from China.

The Financial Times reported that Beijing was considering holding up the deal in retaliation after the US tightened restrictions on the export to China of cutting-edge chips for artificial intelligence applications.”

It’s naive to believe there will not be large amounts of layoffs if this doesn’t happen.

I have been saying this for 18 months.

It’s naive to believe there will not be large amounts of layoffs if this doesn’t happen. Also, we are at a low point in UE in the states. They have eluded to needing his number to increase. They really don’t care what happens.

I always crack up when people think United States government or the Biden administration will help Broadcom with the deal. For what reason? They have absolutely no incentive to help at all. If anything, they'd want the deal to fail the same way Trump administration dis not want Qualcomm acquisition. The deal will ki-l jobs which is bad for economy, and Broadcom has been under suspicion of being entangled with foreign, non-friendly interest within the US intelligence communities. Since when did Avago and Hock Tan come to be the upstanding symbol of American patriotism? In fact they are quite opposite of that.
