Yep, just read the info in a German newspaper.
Aachen will close mid-2024. Announced Wednesday.
@3hr1 - I didn’t know about closing Aachen. When was that announced? Do you have any details?
One benefit to unionization would be job security. Like the US, Europe is seeing their experienced jobs outsourced to incapable LCCs, but Europe has a salaried union. With the announcement to close Aachen, workers are not out of a job immediately. They have job protection into 2030, allowing workers to plan for their own exit date. Unlike the US, where experience is walked out the door prior to a pension milestone, Europe can negotiate their departure. They may not have a project assigned to work on, but they can use the time to learn something new so that they can transition to a new job. All the while they are getting paid.
@3jqo+1ppzQMxs - yep all GSRs, LL6s, LL5s, etc. should sign up. Then we can go on strike and get paid strike money. UAW has $900 millions, so we can be strike for a long time. :)
Let’s contact the UAW to get ourselves represented. We’ll get higher salaries, cheaper healthcare and better retirement benefits:

LOL. Love it how easy the media can manipulate people.
Here comes another debacle , similar to the profit sharing from last year.
Paid off big? Bullsh-t! A 3.5 percent raise isn't "big" at all, as a matter of fact, the inflation rate for the last 12 months was 3.7 percent. Of course companies are willing to give up 3.5 percent. Meanwhile salaried employees are technically earning less money year over year as they're longevity with the company increases.
All this talk about raises for everyone is nice but with the way this company operates with the current management, there won't be any pay for anyone in 4 years...
I am ready to lead organizing. Who is in?
28,000 salaried soldiers ready to get our fair share! Less than 4000 management (LL6 and above) in the whole company. Can you dig it?
Won't happen. Lots of bluster on this board about salaried employees joining UAW, but nobody ever really pushes for it. Unless someone is willing to step up and do it, why even bother?
