New job before WARN ends

Do they have a way of finding out if we take new jobs before the WARN period ends? I want to look now and accept something if I find it but don’t want to lose my severance payment.

You are clearly too stupid to function in a real job. If you still don’t understand how the notice period works, and have been incapable of reading the simple English document on the HR site about it, there is no hope for you. Instead you just rely on internet misinformation to understand things. Spoiler alert, you’re allowed to get a job during the notice period and will still get all of your owed payouts. People like you make me lose all faith in humanities ability to survive.

Use this time to take care of YOU. We've been through a lot over the past quarter -- just waiting.

As noted above, the hiring process (interviews, background checks, etc) will take time and we are going into the holiday period. Do start your resume updates, job search and apply but no need to rush it and lose your $$$; negotiate a mid-Jan 2024 start date. ;)

Look and secure a position then negotiate your start date at the new job.

They have no way of knowing if you accept a new job anyway. Just don't tell them if you get another job so you can ensure you still get that bonus next year (the severance would still be paid).

yes to the severance package. You'd lose the bonus.

I thought we still get the severance even if we find a new job… we just don’t get the bonus. Right?

You don't want to risk that. The agreement clearly states that you must inform them if you found another job within the notice period. Please wait until the notice period ends or let them know which will accelerate your termination date. If you did that then I think you still get the severence unless you join back Schwab itself within the notice period termination date in which case you lose your severence. If you find a job within a week after the notice period starts you still get paid for that 1 week and so on. I am on the same boat as you but I am considering the next 2 months as paid vacation which is what most people who are in this situation do. You can start looking and even if you find something right away it may take 4 to 6 weeks for the processingto complete and the holidays will be around the corner!!! Most likely your start date will be in Jan 2024 and beyond the notice period end date i.e. termination date. After the termination date, the severence money is yours!!! I called HR and they said you must let them know even if you took up a part time job!!!
