Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Interviewing for new position tomorrow

Even if I don’t get the job it will be a major morale booster for me. Been feeling borderline sui-idal for the last 48 hours but now at least there is a glimmer of hope. Sc--w you EC for doing this to people with children right before Halloween.

OP sorry what you have to go through . If I was in your situation, I would have had similar thoughts . However think of the loved ones that would miss you . The entire EC and corporate greed might not care about you . But there are few real people who care about you . Stay strong . There is always a light at the end of the tunnel . And please seek help . Talk to folks . Stay strong and come out strong .

OP - Good luck with your interview. Wishing you the best. Remember that there is life outside Schwab (a lot of it, to be honest), and it is not the best place to work. Most people there aren’t your true friends, it’s not worthy of all your energy and the toll it can create on your family and yourself. Corporations don’t care about people, they never did. It is always staged “fakeism” to create the illusion of a “corporate culture”. The truth is that you are loved, you are deserving, you are smart. You will find a new role somewhere else.

OP This is only a temporary problem that will pass. You are worthy, and you’re here in this world for a reason.

You will find something better. Schwab is not the best, and not worth all of your energy. Everything happens for a reason. Something much better is out there waiting for you and you will find it.

You are loved.

OP you are not alone. From someone that wasn’t laid off, the grass is not greener on the other side. Most of us are extremely unhappy and we don’t plan on staying here for long. There is talk about more rounds of layoffs too. I understand that losing your job can be stressful but you have a safety net, and there are jobs out there even now in Q4. There are several people that are offering help on social media. Please use the help and resources for your job hunt as well as just to talk or connect. Get out of the house and meet up with old friends and colleagues. We are all here for you guys!

You aren’t alone in your pain OP, I don’t even remember last night with my kids. Everything is a blur.

Pretty sure number of children was not part of the criteria used to determine who was laid off. There doesn’t appear to be any logic.

We feel your pain and it’s absolutely normal. But don’t make decisions without considerating all options and consequences. Seek help. EAP or a counselor.

I was let go, last one in my entire team and we got hit really hard, I am down, sad and angry, and I think it is pretty normal, but your comments are concerning and I am sorry you have to go through this, but you are not alone and there are many of us.

There are employees just back from maternity leaves, there are employees battling personal and health issues, but we will survive, your life is not dependent on a single company or not defined by your work, Corporate America is cold and although Schwab claims and thinks they are better, they are as bad if not worse than other companies out there, 4 months of absolute torture and lightning round of layoffs like they are beating the market, it was terrible couple hours and will stick with me for rest of my life and I really hate this company for that. However, Please reach out for help if you feel like that, you will find a job, hopefully a better one, dont let a SVP who treated you like an A number on an Excel sheet do this to you, get the help you need and hold your head high.

Sorry this happened and that you are going through this! Schwab can go fu-k themselves but don't let them take your life. They don't deserve that power. I hope the interview goes well... sending lots of love your way!
