Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Be Upfront if You Get a New Job

It is tempting to not disclose a new job, but per the severance agreement (which I am still trying to clarify with HR), you still get the severance if you get a new role outside Schwab, but you don’t get the bonus of you get the role before the end of the year.

This may not be a popular thing to say, but it is best to be upfront and disclose of you get another role. At the very least, you will not have the risk of legal action taken against you. Forgoing the bonus is worth keeping your next role, in my opinion.

Yeah, like schwab coming after laid off employees. That is going to be a good look. Is this written by HR? What a bootlicker.

Freeze your the work number account

See if you can circumvent Schwab employment verification

If anything comes up, just say you didn’t know.

There is literally NO WAY for Schwab to know you got a new job if you don't tell them. So, please, do not listen to this guy's advice.

(I know nothing about licensed roles at Schwab, so this is geared towards non-licensed)

Not reporting an OBA could lead to big problems down the road (fine/bar). Don’t take the risk.

Legal action? How are they going to monitor 2k+ names and profiles? It is the same as you hold two FTE jobs at the same time, let's be honest, it is a warning in severance letter but guess what, there is NO way for them to know, there is a way legally, but the money and time they need to spend and track 2k+ laid off employees is ridiculous, dont let them own you anymore, we have had enough anxiety and nervousness already.
