I didn't think Schwab was different. Just like every other company about shareholder value and meeting the Street's expectations.
Sure, we could do more things for employees with high profit margins and try to make us all proud working for the company.
But wen the interest rate gamble failed, the writing was on the wall. Schwab is like any other company. Profit and Loss. How to balance it all out? Sacrifice the employee in the near term for shareholder value.

Walt and Joe will ‘retire’ in the next 6 months…and as someone pointed out will go on to fabulously lucrative board and consultive positions.

Reorg already has the hallmark of a disaster, never heard so many people just speak with such dejection. So many good people gone, so many useless people retained.

Walts legacy is that he grew his net worth by a factor of ten while destroying a once proud company culture. Same for the executive council.

Schwab was different in the past. Walt the 🤡 destroyed this company and his reputation in less than a year's time. What a legacy.
