Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Venting thread: If you have been laid-off, what will you (NOT) miss from CS? What red flags would you watch out for next?

I'll go first. STS here, got axed today, accomplished software engineer with hands on trading experience, stocks, futures, options. When applying at CS I had offers paying much more, but noooo, I had to be a hero and change the world, right? Took me a few years to realize the so-called "Modernization" efforts are a bit of a virtue-signaling exercises, IMHO. I had a privilege of working with some great engineers, most of them rage-quit a while ago, I was the slow one.

I will not miss the red tape, approval boards, 10 meetings to make a simple decision, obsolete technology and the calls to support it, seeing my teammates trying to save their souls and keep their sanity, I was hired to modernize apps and processes and ended up in production support of obsolete tech falling apart. Sneaky heartless deceitful management. Many of the engineers I met in STS do not know what a stock is. An app or service could be developed in 6-9 months took 5 years and still is not done.
Feel free to add, please be respectful, I'm sure it will be entertaining

What are the top reasons for why Schwab’s tech is so 90s? We have so many people across the company but I just cannot lock onto it. Is it truly too many cooks in the kitchen with senior management?

Gaslighting from management about me getting to the meetings late because I needed to change my baby’s diaper.

Another STS layoff, all of this resonates. It says a lot that getting the news this morning gave me mixed feelings. I'm hopeful that today was just a blessing in disguise.

I will not miss being underpaid for working for this “tech“ company. I will not miss not getting RSUs.

Same. I was promised a role of my expertise when leadership didn't support that model. They never valued me or my position because of it, they set me up for failure but I still exceeded by having to work harder than they deserved. It's their loss. They want "order takers" not innovators. The ship will continue to sink without people like us. Cheers!!

Not sure why you're being downvoted. This describes STS to a T. We are not some fintech, we are a dinosaur. A very slow one at that.
