Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Driving the Downtown Obsession

Today, JES continued his lack of confidence and logic for his dream of uniting NM after his failed attempts to unite LV and NM. When asked about the I-794 construction project, JES said “It doesn’t feel to me like there is an obvious, clear answer yet,” adding that Northwestern Mutual hasn’t taken a stance on the various I-794 proposals currently under consideration. While he will never face the consequences of his disastrous decision to sell the Franklin Campus and waste another $500M+ refacing a building, its calls into question his motivation and incentive for a downtown campus amidst his own skepticism and indecisiveness for the area.

In other news, Starbucks is closing yet another downtown location at the end of November 2023. This follows the closing of their other downtown location in April 2021. As Starbucks and countless other businesses and restaurants succumb to the out-of-control crime and abandon Downtown Milwaukee, NM continues to press onward.

I spoke to a friend of mine who retired from NM and how people were actually in tears when Zore retired from the company.

JES has been dazed and confused his entire tenure as CEO. He continues to chase his SARE and DEI fantasies at both NM and Kohl's. In the process both companies have suffered. The board is also asleep at the wheel for allowing his madness to continue for as long as it has. It's time for a new CEO, new board, and new direction.

What the he-l? Force everyone in your company to come downtown in the near future, then take a soft stance on a boneheaded plan to severely cripple the commute for your employees? I mean, is there any company MORE affected by this potential disaster than NM? But hey, at least we will have more fancy shops to look at the front windows of as we sit idling in our cars while in gridlock where I794 used to be.
