Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

They do read this site, in case you're wondering...

People in Communications and HR do read these sites as a matter of routine, in case you wondered. It's someone's actual job to read this site and the other one like it. Yes, sometimes there are emails going around about these comments. No, they don't have any way of identifying you, and probably wouldn't bother.

The only comments that cause emails are the wildly defamatory content (e.g. an allegation of fraud or bribery, or being on Epstein's Island, etc.)

The overwhelming number about Geoff never really make it that far in their original wording. They're expressed in graphs as "sentiment". Noone actually has the courage to tell Geoff the express words used.

@wpx+1piasvG9 haha me too; funnily enough my eliminated position was filled by someone <3 weeks after I was laid off who happened to be much younger than I and without a significant other that was pregnant. It was funny how differently I was treated after taking my paternity leave compared to before. Superstar to vague reasons why I could no longer be on projects. All despite providing a full accounting of roles and responsibilities while on leave to make sure nothing was missed.

Stock Options have a 10 year maximum vest. with todays stock price, Geoff has literally wiped out almost all the value of all employee stock options in existence. No one, from ExCom to directors is safe from his incompetence. Employees who retired a year or two ago thinking Medtronic was in safe hands are tearing their hair out watching their retirement plans go up in smoke. What a train wreck.

HR also filters the "Ask Geoff" emails, or at least did at the time I worked there. I sent an email asking Geoff why I was being laid off instead of being given an opportunity to fill a newly created role in one of the many re-orgs going on. I applied and interviewed for new positions but the requisitions were pulled before they were filled. I may have implied that it had something to do with age. About 10 minutes after hitting 'send' I received a phone call from someone in HR not happy with my question.

Yes every company has HR people that keeps tabs on all these anonymous forums (the layoff, Blind, Glassdoor bowl, cafe Pharma). Cafe Pharma is an absolute cess pool though.

What a waste of money for the company to fund a team that monitors sites like these, ignores all feedback, then still ask us to fill out an annual OHS survey. Just more unnecessary funding that lead to NO RESULTS - this is the Medtronic way.
