Thread regarding VMware layoffs

I wish they hadn't send out any offer letters at all

I am happy for those who got theirs, but they have now managed to bring up the anxiety level for those of us who received nothing from a 5 to a solid 10. Couldn't they have waited and done it all at the same time? This is starting to feel like psychological torture at this point.

They do it in batches because some people in the first batch will reject the offer, which makes space for the second batch. It’s only logical.

Getting the severance is a very good option, when comparing the offers they have sent out. You will have to stay here almost a full year to break even. If you don't get a letter, don't feel bad, and know that the severance deal is not bad at all. Many of us with letters were still evaluating whether to resign.

Like all joking aside if you haven't gotten an offer letter by now I would start applying like crazy. No guarantee you are laid off but your chance is probably much higher having not received one.

what helps is really getting yourself to just not care. Collect the paycheck from vmware, look slowly for other jobs and just live life, spend time with family friends, do hobbies etc...

Totally agree. And, just imagine what it's like to be in the EUC BU where none of us got offer letters, and we still don't know who is the private equity buyer waiting in the winds.

I get you but at the end of the day, none of this will matter in a year and karma has a funny way of making its way around.
