Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Excruciating, cruel, and bungled

I am flabbergasted at how inept this process has been. The press should be having a field day with this.

Notification letters sent out piecemeal, seemingly at random. Some people on a team have offer letters, some do not.

No clarity on benefits, remote workers, or severence. Some offers coming it at less that current salary. Some significantly above.

All Hands meetings - VMware management stonewalling. Excuses ranging from "we can't tell you such and such detail" to "this is Broadcom's process and they have not told us."

Some of that may actually be true. Who is to say? The result is the same.

In addition to being very stressful, it frankly makes me wonder if I would want to work for an organization that cannot manage this. I really hope this is not the last nail in the coffin for my sense of loyalty to an employer... but it it looking this way.

The merger is going to fail because of China and then Ragamuffin will have thousands of disgrunteled employees to deal with who are not working .

This dude doesn’t understand Broadcom wouldn’t waste their time sending offers if they didn’t know they were getting approval soon lol. Hock is confident for a reason. He must know something lol. And you Broadcom board of directors purchasing millions of stock last month. They totally don’t know what’s going on 😉

Question is... why all the pu--y-footing around communications towards severance/FTE/transition? Is it to protect the holy stock AVGO ?

@dsq+1pgvbJ9i. OP here. They are random. Some offers yesterday, some layoffs, some silence. Then today a precious few of both - all in the same team… but some still with nothing.

That seems random to me.

@ tbj+1pgvbJ9i This is NOT typical. I’ve been through several of these - most tech workers have. By far this is the most drawn out and inept.

It's not random that offers were planned, the recipient details were provided to BC by our VPs, with Directors feedback. It is tough, but please do not take it personal, this is customary in any acquisition

sorry to say, but if some members of a team already got an offer and some didnt, good chance that isnt "random"
