Thread regarding VMware layoffs

IRE - I actually can't believe it

What a joke VMW & BC are, Ireland won't be told anything until the 30th/31st and you can tell that everyone in EMEA (Ireland/UK) have just given up. Watching the que today for a few different SMEs and there is tickets missing/burning without the engineerings giving a s**t.

I honestly think it's time to silent quit at this stage, if everyone just stopped working for a few days and just did the bare minimum what would happen?

I'm astounded that the hr depts responsible for ire, uk and other geos have been so silent and not given clearer time lines.
Simply telling employees there are 3 buckets does not constitute consultation.
Changing the terms of employment unilaterally like we see has been done in USA is illegal.

Meanwhile we see counterparts in the US not get offers so we assume the same will happen to our teams over in Europe and people start downing tools.

Extremely badly handled thus far.

Can they choose to pay out the consultation period or is that mandatory as per country law they cannot skip

I have asked this a couple of times, and I am very curious to know as well. Anybody that I have asked dosnt seem to be able to answer 100 percent.

What I want to know will we be receiving letters next week?

If you’re in UK or Ireland and/or Europe best to take a deep breath and try to relax a bit as our employment laws will be giving BC a headache and it’ll be a little while longer before we know our fates. We have a bit more protection in terms of consultation and notice periods than many others.

IRL here, indeed its silent quit all the way. The worse thing is that we don't even know if the deal is going through or not at this stage

And possibly won't know anything until 30 days post close, lovely!!
Could look something like this:
Close 31st Oct
30 day Consultation begins
Consultation ends late November\early December
Letters. And another 30 days to accept.
