Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Running Out of Gas

Just finished changing the signing from the LPOS to Friends and Family. Two major, back to back promotions running over half the month. Why do we do this? After two weeks in a row of strong value pricing, we can expect to have tough sales through the first two weeks of next month setting us up for more drama heading into Thanksgiving.

More meetings and conference calls from our DVP and RDOS, more pressure to keep up with the relentless incoming freight, more platitudes about how stores can use sales goals, Theatro, and grass root events to make twenty point trend change improvements. What happened to discussions about how our marketing calendar and assortment strategy are impacting our business. How are stores supposed to realistically offset the sales from the businesses we have been forced to exit?

Here's hoping that a change in CEO and senior leadership will move some of the crushing weight of expectation for stores to somehow always overcome the challenges related to just plain bad merchant and marketing strategies.

I don't even have my Theatro plugged in most of the time because I can't stand the relentless stupid announcements from managers about credit contests that I could care less about. I can't listen to customers if you are going to pump announcements from the id--ts from the corporate and their stupid charity cr-p I DON'T CARE!!!!. ISM is pathetic it has always been. I used to be back of housewas forced to the floor. I ring, put out merchandise, do markdowns, pack fulfillment too sometimes. A few butt kisses from BOH get away with not having to ring at all which is ridiculous and unfair .

Are they still doing the stupid Holiday Execution contest, acting as if everything is awesome and perfect and normal?

I agree ISM S-cks with a capital "S", but in our store, the "sales associates" almost always sell because there is no staff to man the wrap stands. Don't you think it's better to be able to step away from the register to do something, ANYTHING else instead of facing an endless line of customer after customer for your entire shift dealing with complaints. Believe me, it's no picnic on our end either. Hope things get better for all of us.

ISM su-ks! So unfair too. Support has to ring but sales only sell!!! So freaKing unbalanced! No one can speak the truth such a sad situation! Who cares who's idea it was it clearly is for a small store not a dual location.

Macy's friends, walk the RTW floor. We have looked like December 1st. since the middle of September. We have had ugly Christmas sweaters, Family PJs, and Asst. Christmas apparel forever. What happened to fall? We dust the RTW like we dust the fixtures. Meanwhile, men's looks seasonally appropriate. What happened?

Bring back operational support and you take some of the pressure off. You need back of house leadership to make this work. Otherwise you are wasting your breath.

Least your store isn't one of the 50 test stores doing the signing pilot program which is a MESS.

If it gets greenlit and rolls out to all stores it'll be a disaster because it already is.

They took a simple thing and messed it up completely. It takes 2x long. Sign carts a frickin mess. WASTING A TON OF PAPER. For such an "green company" they waste SOOOOOOO much paper. Which is in turn wasting SOOOOOO much money.

And then they wonder why sales are down company wide.

No one is shopping right now it's that weird in between time and it's not just Macys it's every retail store that slow in between time before holiday shopping "begins".

This company doesn't know up from down. They're focused on building NYC skyscrapers and making investors happy instead of putting time, and money into their stores and employees...
