L3 has begin laying off many senior management people who are legacy employees through the acquisitions of ITT and Exelis. Some of them with 30+ years of service. The Director of Operations resigned last month and the interim director announced he is also leaving along with 2 senior managers. More layoffs are expected to happen by Christmas. The only group unaffected are the unionized testers, assemblers and their supervisors. All of those union people that left the union took management jobs in the last 5 years are soon to be let go as well. Oh well, bad choice wasn't it?. Glad I retired 9 months ago with full benefits grandfathered in by contract. Good luck to the rest of you.

This happened in Clifton New Jersey on Wednesday October 18th. Management and non union administrative people charging IDL were let go. The number is around 30. Some were relatively new, but a few had over three decades of service with the company. There are more layoffs coming, but the total number in Clifton will probably be less than 50 since, a WARN notice was not submitted to the state of New Jersey. any company with more than 100 employees must submit one of these notices if 50 or more people are being laid off. It must be submitted 60 days before the layoff is to occur. This is why the number in Clifton will be fewer than 50.
