Cutting hours during holiday? We are told not overtime, stay on budget. Anyone else getting this message?

Maybe for you. Fulfillment has been throwing everyone into the department just to get picks done and out the door faster so no extra hours are used
Been emphasized through the grapevine that there is no OT this year. But as always in our store, fulfillment seems to be a free for all for anyone there that wants to work extra.
If it isn't any clearer now with the news that broke last night (and now calming statements by Jeff n Tony) they are getting lean and mean, getting ready to get bought out. Jeff says "business as usual", it's hasn't been usual at all for a while now.
Upper management in my division are obsessed about overtime. The 4th rate workers can call off, leave early or slack off. Nothing is done about it. The productive workers have to cover their sorry as--s. If the good workers get 5 minutes of overtime, upper management blows a gasket.
Big shots need their bonus bucks. Come in under budget and exceed sales plan.
cutting hours means they did not make this time of year numbers
Yup, so ridiculous and stupid. I heard we are way over on payroll once again. I know nothing should surprise me with this company but cutting hours at Christmas is just crazy.
Then the week before Christmas they will be begging people to stay over, happens every year.
