Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM was early to AI, then lost its way. CEO Arvind Krishna explains what’s next

Does the company have any plans to use AI to
upskill current employees in those sectors, or
types of roles it’ll replace versus not?

AK's response is some serious spin doctoring.

If you don't like the results IBM is getting then do something about it. I left to join a company that is growing and I regret not doing it sooner. IBM make you feel you have no value so it's refreshing to join a company who show's you appreciation with more financial reward.

Long timers at IBM need to cut their BS and retire.

Wait until customers actually try the recently released watson AI products. The results of using AI in these products will surely disappoint almost anyone who tries it. That will reinforce the negative impression left with using watson in the health field. I'm surprised that no magazine has managed to try it yet.

Article should end with. "Regardless of these blunders and short sighted management practices, our Executive team commits to staying focused and will continue to be relentless in finding creative new ways to line their pockets and identify additional opportunities to $crew over the good people who make this all possible for us, because that's the IBM way"

This was one of the more honest pieces I have seen from Arvind which is why I do believe he is better than Ginni but it means jack sh-t because he won't stop the financially driven bullsh-t that is sinking the company. Product dev is underfunded and understaffed to compete. They need to cut the bullsh-tters and higher more developers and people who get sh-t done.

IBM always skating to where the puck was two years ago.

AI has already become a commodity technolory at the low end, and exclusive to the hyperscapers at the high end who have the data and datacenters to drive their models.

IBM will be stuck in between these endpoints, mostly competing with the low end since we have neither the data nor compute to be competitive at the high end.

IBM has lost its way on every technological wave in the last 20 years. (Pick one) It is so sad to see what once was great company that has been ruined by our arrogant and greedy BOD and Senior Executives.
