Nothing against DEI initiatives. If done correctly they could be ideal and work out great.

What has happened in the past 5 years, is DEI for the sake of DEI to make the company look good, especially externally !

So many examples of such candidates failing miserably at their jobs, yet occupying high positions and their snooty attitude in full display.

I've personally worked with the CBG Segment President, and yeah she did leave 3M and came back as a director several years ago. But she cut her teeth in a subsidiary, did a great job growing the business everywhere she worked and is well respected by her teams. Sorry, but people who label EVERY executive who doesn't look like them as a DEI case are wrong factually and morally.

The CBG segment President is leaving 3M to pursue outside opportunities. If memory serves me right, she had left before only to come back to 3M and land a better position.

Common thought is that this person was a classic DEI candidate ? Any other thoughts to the contrary?

The APAC SVP is leaving. Must be seeing things aren’t right. Good move for him.

Stinks for those people affected so close to the holidays. The plan is clear for CBG - strip portfolio to the bone, make those left do more with less, and lean on the global marketing center to drive demand as inexpensively as possible. This business group has been absolutely gutted over the last two years. Will likely be hiring people back in a year or two.

No 2000 layoffs. I don’t understand why someone would spread such fake info. Not primarily a layoff program

It is with great regret that we must inform you that we must lay off approximately 2,000 employees by March 31, 2024. As many of you know, we have been experiencing financial challenges in recent months because of falling sales. We have already taken steps to cut costs where possible and explored all options. Unfortunately, a layoff is necessary in light of an uncertain economic outlook.
