Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

5 Years ago, “That Day”

Long story short, 11/28/2018. Email invite to conf. call from someone I never heard of. Declined, came back an hour later as Mandatory. Was busy, joined late. All I heard was “today is your last day with NCR”. Then the SVP leading the call left, turned over to HR.

Over 44 years, flushed in 5 seconds. Never a bad review, never performance improvement plan, always all S or E.

Anger, denial, desire to punch someone still longer to this day. Manager said he had no input or voice, was told evening before. Learned the SVP had only been with NCR 6 months. He was making a name for himself to impress CEO. But-hole was gone 3 years later. Still vow to punch his lights out if I ever see him.
But I did get 28 weeks severance. Since I worked in a remote lab by myself, I took what I wanted and left it for someone else to clean up.
Seeing NCR split in two, maybe I got out while the getting was good?
I feel sorry for the front line folks and those with 15+ years. Sorry but it may be too late for you.

Was a bit shocked my team members stabbed me in the back, but turned out to be the best thing that could have possibly happen regarding NCR, get paid to be outsourced, no regrets.

Riding the train till the wheels fall off, over 20 years in and have made it through the split. Thankful not to be on the Voyix side, I see a lot of cost cutting going on there.

Sorry bud. I get it. That one last achievement of putting in your retirement yourself. It hurts i was close also.

At 44 years you had a good run, you must have been ready to retire anyway. Did you hire a lawyer to make sure your severance was fair, it sounds light to me. I went through the s@me thing a year ago, got 4 minutes on the conference call. No loyalty to employees, I was a good employee who did a great job, but it didn’t matter. In the end I am very happy not to ever have to work again, but at the time it was hard to accept after giving decades of hard work, but they gave me a gift in the end, if I quit I would have got nothing.
