Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

90 million more than expected in expenses.

I guess we found out the cost of experience. Save a little money by laying off senior workers, pay 10 fold by reinventing the wheel.

"experienced decision makers"

What is a decision maker?
Scientists and engineers are not decision makers.
They are scientists and engineers.
I believe decision makers are the ones who misjudged the economy
and ran Micron into the ground.
Sadly that was their one job, to predict what was going to happen.
Don't worry though, I suspect most still have their jobs and their bloated salaries.

meaningless - it doesn't work like that, sigh
i can practice basketball a lot and that won't get me into the nba
if we group 10 people who don't know calculus, the group won't know calculus either
no matter how hard i practice drawing, my portraits still su-k
that only works with mindless repetitive work
1 person can make 1 widget, 5 people can make 5 widgets

The long run will be the judge of that... and in the long run we'll have generated experienced decision makers, if they stick around. If we keep on harvesting that group, the future will quickly become a struggle to stay relevant as those who get tossed out bring their talent to competitors.
