Benchmarking studies being completed again to justify further reduction in expat packages. Buckle up and be ready. Benchmarking unsurprisingly only reduces benefits. When was the last time benchmarking showed an increase was needed? Competitors compared against are carefully chosen to get the desired answer. The 5% benefit for extended business travel was eliminated years ago. You get no benefit for long business trips. Just hope your management recognizes the sacrifice…
Expat "benefits" have clearly been trending down, except for BTC expats. The " benefits' are used as incentives, much as it was done for everyone years ago. Expat assignments are mainly training assignments for BTC personnel (and management, of course) unless one truly has a value added skill. I have seen people get scrood by calling their assignment extended business travel instead of a proper assignment, in which case they only get a 5% uplift after a number of days away from home. In the meantime, EMTEC contributes virtually nothing to the workstreams, but still manages to create an appearance of added value in some cases. Hard to believe it's the same Company.
I know Controller's specifically was benchmark and saw a slight uptick in Salaries at least in the US last cycle when they benchmarked them
In the era of remote connectivity expats are things of the past. Draining company resources at the impact tuning it for the average workers.
