Any idea how much is difference

No, not at Cisco.
As your high end customers keep trying to tell you, you can't test your way to quality. If QA batted 1000 you'd never be able to ship anything because you'd never meet the release criteria.
"Many QA engineers are good"
No, not at Cisco.
Many QA engineers are good at building complex lab for test purpose. They are in high demand.
QA in complex routing and wireless technologies are also in very demand.
Any qa who can build test framework can demand high money. There is always demand for good qa engineers.
I imagine the salary is the same since the teams are absolute garbage. Good use case for AI is to get rid of the bonehead coders in india and elsewhere.
These days it's test driven development. Developers are the qa. Very few of the qa from olden networking days with customer experience remain.
People fixing bugs found by customers are from India
I know what Cisco spent on customer found defects and I'd be surprised if Cisco India had enough people to field that on their own. I know from working there the vast majority of development dollars go to bug fixing and the US and Canada fielded a lot of that work.
Cisco's code has been complete garbage for at least 30 years, long before the international internet links were capable of supporting major sites around the world, and the US trained those remote teams to be as incompetent as those in the US. Companies around the world have been certified at CMM Level 5 whereas Cisco is at Level 0. It's a matter of corporate culture, not country.
As for QA, Cisco generally doesn't take it seriously. I know one QA guy who was worth his weight in gold and they did take care of him, but that is rare. Platforms often release of many branches so code ships before it is tested because the QA teams are too small to write the tests on time, and in the cases where projects have overrun by years and the tests can be run the results show massive failure on the part of development which had EXTRA YEARS to get it right.
To quote C level executives from Cisco's customers, "you can't test your way to quality."
Unfortunately looking at code quality, I guess they are the same salary. Everybody knows a QA engineer is a person that couldn't cut it as a proper software engineer.
Same level not mean same salary
Is QA engineer salary same as software developer
As a first approximation, salary is grade-level based. At least, when you join cisco I expect you to be given roughly the same grade level and salary for a QA engineer and software engineer.
you must joking
Cisco customers are QA engineers for Cisco, kidding me? Most Cisco employees are doing nothing all they know would be playing their B-A-L-L-S
People fixing bugs found by customers are from India
There’s no Cisco QA
