I got laid off like so many and was honestly shocked and went through the stages of grief. But already had irons in the fire and one of them came through this week!! I will be starting in Jan and am taking my first real time off since graduating college 8 years ago!! Keep your hopes up, colleagues!! There are opportunities out there!
15% base salary increase in a Data Science role, higher bonus. Was a 58 IC at Schwab. I got the new role at a large finance company that’s not a direct competitor, allows remote work and doesn’t make me jump through hoops to grow my own business. I am setting myself up to also do consulting for startups and learn about venture investing. Already have have a couple of contracts starting in late Jan/early Feb.
Never again letting one job and paycheck determine my finances. F*ck Schwab. I’ve signed the contract and will “resign” and collect severance. I don’t think I’ll get the bonus but dgaf.
