Thread regarding 3M layoffs

3M isn't the place to build a future

When the big solution to all the problems is just handing out pink slips, you can't help but see how clueless and desperate the leadership is. My tip for everyone is to dust off your resume and start exploring new job options. I've already got the ball rolling on that myself.

Perhaps the problem was a focus on the stock price rather than "social activism".

Enabling SAP unleashed unprecedented spending and a disregard for 3M culture and expertise. Assignment of MR, a true liberal, as CEO moved focused from manufacturing to social activism and hence here we are today. 3M will never be the same.

There is no future now. Just cost cutting and inventory control. Look at those so called leaders - directors and above. Clueless as usual.

The biggest challenge I see when I join virtual meetings or am in the office is that the worst things get for 3M the more toxic senior leaders become. Senior leaders feel they have a license to bully those they do not like or feel pose a threat to their careers. The ones who got their jobs through nepotism seem to be the worst. I keep to myself and say nothing even though I hate what I see. I know HR will not do anything. My wife and I both work for 3M so it is too risky to rock the boat until we can retire. We are fortunate that both of us will get a pension.
