Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Just...what's happening here?

Can anyone explain what Impact is (I keep reading it's happening week of Oct 23) and somehow is related to layoffs.
And why layoffs should happen by the end of the pay period? I do remember a town hall or something where EC (Walt I think) ensure that layoffs would be over by EOY. Is Friday the 20th the list day before the next pay period?

I know in the grand scheme it maybe doesn't matter which week this happens. But my teams are losing their minds.

Are you stupid? How are you an employee of Schwab, and you have no clue what the annual Impact conference is? Also, how could you possibly think it is related to layoffs? Wow, just wow. Talk about disengaged.

We're so miserable trying to plan next steps on anything that we'll take any info we can get. Clearly impact, benefits enrollment, holidays, TGs and other obvious inconveniences don't matter on the layoff strategy. I guess then all signs point to layoffs at 60 days + last day they can before EOY.

Impact is Schwab’s conference for thousands of Registered independent advisors . It doesn’t have anything to do with layoffs . Just that any company would be nuts to do a layoff during a conference with thousands of RIAs and having to turn conference topic to layoffs . It’s a PR issue. That’s why lot of folks bring in impact and suggest layoffs won’t happen during that week. Again the way things go , nothing is certain .

I'll take this one. SCHW is a formerly great company that is being run badly by a cabal of arrogantly disconnected and entitled hypocrites who communicate so infrequently and inaccurately that you have to come to an anonymous website to find out what is going on at the company, and why. That is what is happening.

@mcl+1p774eQz. cool - tiny little head will stop worrying about impact. Sounded like a big deal and I don't need another thing. Appreciate your help.

its an external event for client facing folks in advisor services and orgs like that...dont worry your tiny little head about impact.

worry more about giving your team time off, and helping them prepare for literally anything else..

no internal schwab folk needs to worry about impact.. stop talking about impact
