I drove both vehicles this week to do some comparison. Unfortunately, Tesla Model Y received the thumbs up.
Ford has a lot of work to do in order to compete with Tesla.
There is a long list of what Ford needs to improve. I placed the order for the Model Y.
The same Model e we have today is the Model e responsible for the Mache and Lightning. Don't let the company PR poster fool you. It wasn't called model e then but it's the same team. A name change doesn't change that.

Bro, that’s still YEARS from now. And who honestly cares how great the V2 vehicles will be, if they end up costing 20-30k more than Tesla? The funny part is Tesla is still cheaper than the Mach-E by a substantial margin and still have much better software and platform.
Those Model e vehicles might be better but they also will be a lot more expensive. Meanwhile Tesla will come out with new models that will probably leapfrog Ford again. Farles is already hinting there won’t be a second act to Mach-E because there’s too much competition. In the end our EVs will cost 60k+ and be priced out of the market. I’ll take a Tesla, Hyundai, he-l even the new BMWs are decent and will likely cost the same as our next gen vehicles.
The fact that KIA is beating Ford to the three-row EV SUV game says a lot. KIA?! Come on man, dinosaurs are running this company and we made our pivot too late.

Model e is name change only. It is the same team formally called ese which developed mach e and lightning. Also don't believe the "team edison" propaganda as being like a startup.
My wife didn't even care for the Mach E after she test drove the Tesla Model Y. We bought the Model Y early this year as well.

Tesla is not even that good of a car. Yes the propriety software and owning the whole charging system has given them an advantage in “it just works” but really it’s the ethos of the company. Tesla is worth so much because they have captured the minds of the youth. Every kid under 18 dreams of having a Tesla and worships Elon. That’s something no matter how hard you try cannot be replicated by a legacy automaker. We are dumping billions into making cheap imitations that will never be as popular as the original. Tesla is the iPhone and we are Steve Ballmer trotting out the windows phone.
