Even without the extra variable of mergers etc that offer letter means nothing until your butt warms the chair and you get the first check. You may still have a chance of employment but treat it as your first and not last experience of a layoff. Hit the streets looking for something else since you cannot wait for Exxon to figure out where you land. Good luck
Don't listen to these people here. Reach out to HR and make sure your offer is still valid. Starting off your career with Exxon (if you have that opportunity) will payoff bigger dividends in the future for you. I worked for a major for 5 yrs right out of college and that set the successful path to my career.
I graduate in May 2024. I received an offer but was recently told to keep my options open.
Given the deal closes in the first half and I'm sure XOM has asked for some sort of limited hiring freeze. Ask your recruiter but be diligently looking for a job because you're essentially going to a completely different company/culture then the one that hired you
Don't listen to replies here. Reach out to whoever your offer letter came from & ask!
They should be able to get you an answer.
Don’t allow HR to string you along. Find employment elsewhere.
I’m assuming may 2024? You will not have a job with pioneer. As far as Exxon it depends on what area you’re offer is in and how Exxon looks already in that area. Exxon does not have to honor an offer of employment from pioneer. I’d suggest starting your search again especially if you’re not interested in moving to Houston. If the move is no big deal stay in close contact with both HR and your hiring manager as all this plays out. Try to focus on those 2 people and ignore the “noise” from others and the internet. I’m sorry you’re starting your career and adult life on this manner. Good luck. PS I’m a pioneer employee with 10 years and doing the wait and see game.
You will be one of the first to go, no severance but you won’t have to repay any relocation expenses. You should be spending 50+ hours a week looking for another job. Good news is that you’ll probably make more money.
You are probably f-cked sorry to say. You'll probably hear from HR at some point, could take a while because of the current mess. Start applying to other stuff.
You have no job.
Previous intern?
No one knows yet. I would start applying for other jobs though.
