Just got an offer to join Citi in risk. Currently at another bank going through re-orgs and layoffs. Is it safe to join Citi? Or could I these new offers be rescinded or positions cut? Thanks!

It must depend upon your level hired in at. My bonus was guaranteed. They put in an escrow account and it doesn’t come out of the regular bonus pool. They do this because they need to be able to get people to walk away from another company and leave money on the table. They don’t do signing bonus.
No ganranteed bonus such thing! My bonus was set to be 10k when I joined but after time, my bonus is 5k although my performance is good
That’s a half truth. You “may” get a bonus, there’s no guarantee that you will. It depends on your group, your manager, if “times are hard” which they are about to be.
Take it!! They pulled a lot of reqs so if they didn’t have a need they wouldn’t have made an offer.
And not sure what the one person meant by you won’t get a bonus for two years. They gave me a guaranteed bonus for the first year.
I work at Citi and we are going through a major reorg, the numbers will be finalized by early next year. They were supposed to provide more clarity by November but who knows. Keep in mind that you might not have any bonus for the next two years
If you don't have a job take the job. If you have a current place of employment run fast.
What is your job function in risk?
Run!!
Same situation everywhere. I would accept if you do not have any other offers in hand. Whatever we tell is all speculation at this point. Good luck!
As someone who just got laid off from my new employer after only being there 10 months, anything can happen at any point in time .... so there's that
This post is a perfect example of you can try to run, but can't much hide. It's everywhere, and guess what? Every industry, too.
Citi going through serious Reorganization and Risk is especially at "Risk"..
Since recent start, may not receive severance package only unemployment..
Most of us...looking elsewhere or waiting for several due to long-term employment.
I would stay or look elsewhere
Good luck
All the best for offer. Come and Join. If it is good team, stay here. If not return back to your team or get severence pay and leave. Everything depends on your level of skill, the team, the level of redtape/politics in the team.
Risk is another pointless group with like 5 layers of meaninglessness
I say stay where you are and hope they let you off so you can get severance and unemployment from this current job if you leave and you get laid off at citi you won’t get much
Congrats on the offer. I personally wouldn't join another bank going through reorgs and layoffs because they can still cut the role if impacted. So at this point it's a 50/50 and if your willing to take the risk.
