Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Layoffs yesterday?

Heard from my manager that a supply chain team we interact with had two people WFRed. Spoke with someone and the broader team under the director lost 19. Did it happen elsewhere? Seems September is always a WFH month before end of year. Same happened to me 3 years ago but I got another job the next day.

Where did your layoffs occur? I’ve been a remote CW for over four years who started in the Palo Alto office and have only heard of one person being laid off within that timeframe at our location (It was my manager who was also a CW and was let go early this year). November and the holidays are the busiest time of year for my team (I even have to work during Thanksgiving). I feel confident that if I were to be laid off it would be some time early next year which is good because that’s when the job market tends to loosen up. It should also loosen up a little bit now that summer is over but it’s definitely going to tighten up again during the holidays unless you’re willing to work as a seasonal temp or CW with possibility of extension (like me). Wish me luck in finding a new job during the Fall and may the force be with you if you choose to follow.
