If by now you have not updated your resume, worked on increasing your network, and started test-applying for jobs, you will be the only one to blame if you're caught off guard by coming layoffs. I was laid off once before but it wasn't too bad because I was prepared. Trust me, it means a world of difference.

If you're this condescending at work too I'm not surprised you've been let go before
Such a rude way to present “helpful advice”
I couldn't agree more. A great resume makes a world of difference - don't neglect it. Hours and hours and hours of work and re-work you invest in this will pay off amply if you are impacted.
In a perfect world, when you are laid off, you will think, "Best news ever, now I can 2x my salary for the next n months".
