Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

My theory is that instead of laying frontline call center/ROC workers off, they're going to slowly push people out

For the RIs and PRSs on the phones I do not think were are going to see large-scale layoffs like we saw with middle management today. We all know they are readying themselves to eventually replace us with the third party contracted call center people in Mexico. I believe though it is going to be gradual, and they will over time push as many people to quit and find small reasons to fire people as they can so they don't have to pay severance, and then they can just replace them with one more contractor in Mexico City until eventually there is barely any of us.

For us phone folk, it'll be a slow bleed, not an throat slashing. That is what I am predicting.

Reading this. I’m thinking if we in the TAM ROC didn’t get laid off this round, this is our huge warning sign that we have until March of 2024 (at the latest) to get our finances in order and another job lined up. We got 6 months, let’s squeeze those Pennies.

The contracted reps in Mexico City are slowly replacing Audio PRSs… not sure about TAM. They’ve already had 2 classes of 20 trained. The newest class of 20 just recently started. Originally PRSs were told these contracted employees were just completing TCUs. They started training some of them as PRSs and they were “assigned” to regions but only so they were getting compliance calls assigned to them. The Leads in Mexico City are coaching and managing them, not the Panel Managers.

When did they start hiring contractors for the PRS position? There’s a class of 20 right now? Is that for TAM and Audio?

There is currently another class of 20 contracted workers going through training for PRS. Right now, they don’t have enough people hired to handle the panel, but with pushing 20 people at a time through training, it won’t take too long. I think they know PRSs will start quitting and like you said they’ll find small reasons to fire people. Once they have enough people trained to take over, they’ll come for the rest of us.
