ET is having a big town hall today. Thoughts?

I thought FA was brilliant, and humble, and selfless, and inclusive, and a visionary, and caring, and loyal, and handsome, and the image that we all aspire. I think his comments of we don’t need one ceo but three from the outside was just darn fitting.
Mountain trolls and mean old milkmaids. that is our service mgmt lead model today in ET!
I agree 6 months in and zero innovation. They are simply su-king what they can from State Farm, and they were d-mb enough to let it happen. I don't know why I care at this point or than that's what our generation did. I hope to survive this a couple more years. I feel awful for the younger folks that planned to have a career here.
Agreed, this is an Indian offshoring company with little to no moral or ethics or care for their work force, "you got pregnant... who cares when can you get back to work". US workers have no idea how horrible IT in India is as they are doing whatever they can by hook/crook/abuse to get the US dollar. They aren't innovating or creating anything, their entire business model is to su-k out every dollar they can from US companies and the only way to do that is to replace the converted employees to offshore equivalents to reduce the overhead cost. Those offshore resources are horribly exploited as there is little to no other opportunities in India like IT. Sadly su----e is very common for IT workers in India. Reducing that overhead cost is the only way these body shops grow... InfoSys, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini all play the same cr-ppy game.
I am offshoring no one. Take your petty grievances to HCL. Now if you will pardon me my tee time at The Club is in one hour. Followed by a succulent surf and turf and delectable Scotch, of course.
Get out while you can and find other opportunities before you are shifted. All jobs that can be supported virtually through HCL will indeed be offshored no matter how cr-ppy it will be. That was the whole point. Shift State Farm employees to an outsource and then shift those jobs to off shore. This a test model coming to all jobs that can be done in India. Ad Services technical support your next. CCC get ready your on the blocks too.
@3brs….the point is that unless you work there—IT’s NOT NEWS. Nobody else cares in the least.
@3cha if what the company did is ok then post the news on social media for others to see
Moved from quiet quitting to now quiet cutting.
Well, I guess some companies are figuring out how to get rid of everyone that said they are "quiet quiting".
People in India haven't learned that concept yet. Once they do, their jobs will move to the Philippines.
@3nqr…..the news? Really? What’s the headline? “In shocking news today, one more company does exactly what everyone already assumed they did years ago”.
This should be on the news, sending jobs to India. A so called American company. Tipsford has no shame. The 22 million dollar man.
@2axd-boy are you going to be disappointed at the next announcement.
@2axd: Yes, of course (chortle), the entire Board and I will depart at your command. Stay in your lane and obey your superiors. My delegates and I will handle the deep thinking.
This guy has destroyed SF. Worse CEzero ever. Hilariously incompetent. He and the entire board have to go. No one is moving jobs to India anymore that is desperation move. SF is in big trouble of going broke.
Headline: biggest loss of money than any company ever in 36 month period
Headline: thankful for the female leader.
Headline: no wedding ring so on the market. Goody.
@1dgw at the start they said it will only stay with you while you are with SF account. If you move, you revert to standard 10 days of pto
The only unsure thing is the leave bank. Unless we are given another offer letter the letter does not state that we have to continue on SF account to maintain those days. It says this is how the days were calculated and how many you get per calendar year. Based on that alone it's possible that the extra days are kept regardless of where you go unless they claim it is not a contract and nothing in there matters.
@1xvx It shows their loyalty and true colors. Red, stars and cycle flag!
How many people will continue to support State Farm... rate hikes to covered failed policies of Lipsore his executive team and the board? Fatboy gets a fat bonus while running the company into the ground with underwriting loses so large is just unimaginable. How many people will stay customers of State Farm when they find out that the Good Neighbor is selling out to India? Never fear though Lipsore jr is poised to replace is pops to finish the job....
I feel so sorry for all the Agents... FYI - no amount of hanging up is going to get you to an American for support. When you cant figure out why you cant access Rumba ... its the guy offshore that flipped the wrong switch on a Production LPAR. The thing is SF could give two sh--s if you go out of business they dont need ya anyway, there are plenty more su-kers to sign a lopsided contract... ROFL
@1kti That is a great write up.
Another thing, All HCL rebadge should consider also that if they are moved to a new company, they will lose all of their SF-benefit matches like leave bank.
So the HCL meeting yesterday was specific to US-based HCL employees (offshore and contractors [yep, we have externals too]) were not invited.
As others have said, they did not say "all" rebadges will be out. They said:
- The contract with SF always said that they will reduce onshore staff and increase offshore staff
- They recommend everyone start upskilling and attending career events over the next few months to see what other opportunities are available with HCL
- They committed to trying to make sure everyone who wants to stay with HCL is placed with a different engagement if their SF position is deemed unnecessary to stay onshore
- They stated, plainly, that there will be no favoritism to rebadged employees when it comes to being placed in an onshore role with the SF account. New HCL hires will have the same opportunity to stay, and it was heavily implied that we could be shifted to a new engagement and replaced with another HCL employee onshore.
- It was explicitly stated that if we are chosen to stay, it may be with in a different role with a different team.
- They would not provide any numbers or estimates on the amount of jobs that will shift, or the number of people that will be affected.
- They told all of us that we should not listen to rumors coming from State Farm, and that they were the only authoritative source for information on this.
- They bluntly stated that we now work for "a stock company" and that shareholders demand action when the financials aren't looking good. Reducing labor cost is part of how companies can react.
- They said there will be more communications coming starting in November.
Now, here's how I interpret it..
- If you're in the Support Center or IT Ops/2nd level (i.e. your job is phone support), get your resume ready and start applying for jobs NOW. You're first on the cutting block.
- If you're on a 3rd level Infra team that does not have a need to be onsite to perform your job, I'd say there's a good chance you're going to be shifted in March.
- If you're on a 3rd level Infra team that does have a need to be onsite to perform your job, you should probably be worried as well. As they stated an intent to shuffle people around, I would not be surprised to see 1st/2nd level people placed into some of these 3rd level teams to perform the same work at a lower wage.
Personally, I think we should all start preparing for the worst and get out while we still can. No reason to sit around and just let some bean counter's decision happen to you. You've got 6 months to find a better job. Start looking.
@1lip-your comments regarding ET employees ready to bail is one part naïveté and one part grandiosity .More sensationalized hyperbole that will never come to fruition. Fun story though.
I know what you guys mean, i was out on paternity leave and had to get my windows machine patched up as there were warnings all over the place when i first logged in on my return and software center was stuck downloading for 2 days so i went on support chat and the helpdesk guy first said my internet wasnt working... so how was i chatting with him? Then he said I used up my internet data... so again how was i chatting and receiving mails? I just gave up waited for a few days and eventually all the patches finished. HCL IS garbage.
@rux
Any one, two or three people yes you are correct but here is something you may not know. When Baby "Tipsord" Huey decided to rear end the entire First, Second and Third Lvl Systems employees he made a terrible calculation... you see most were getting ready to retire and a good many are ready to follow suit. As of August systems is absolutely teetering on the verge of imploding because the remaining system employees are tired of the sh-t show that is HCL and are ready to bail. He-l most have not even had a meeting with HCL's management... Let me make one thing perfectly clear ... you cannot train enough offshore people in 6 months to take over .... so far most have very little experience and no clue how to run a complex shop like we had. Its going to be fun to watch for sure so buckle up there buttercup. Listening to executive team this afternoon one could tell they were absolutely shocked at the exodus thus far .... thing is, those fools made it so much worse.
@mfn-your sense of self worth is greatly exaggerated. SF will survive fine without you.I know you think your absence will doom the company just like everyone else that left in the last 10 years.
Oh goodness, the question about ticket quality in the ET meeting got such a non-answer. I can get decent quality out of the few rebadged folks left but I'm getting tickets months late, ones where all that was needed was the AO to restart their computer, and so many where it feels like a random knowledge item was referenced that's not even for the same part of the company. That's not even counting the amount that are just not for my team at all.
but supposedly it's "getting better" more like we gave up complaining.
@mfn+1otnWc08
Sad really… SF made it 100 years then got greedy. I don’t see fun times ahead.
So here is the real scoop... if you are in the Support Center, dust off your resumé your days are now numbered. Cant wait till the agent have to deal with 100% offshore numbskulls for support! As far as the Techs are concerned, being that most of us got screwed without lube I highly doubt enough will stay ... ROFL most of us already have new jobs. HCL and State Farm are both between a rock and a very VERY hard place.... State Farm shafted the techs that kept the wheels on and HCL has yet to train a competent group of techs to take over so buckle-up its going to be a wild ride at the first of the new year and SF deserves what it gets that is for sure
They said the agreement with sf has always been to increase offshore and decrease onshore
ok, hearing more about HCL: sounds like they want/need a headcount of people who intend to stay after their year is up for planning needs.
Could mean they want to make sure they have enough people. Could mean they want to know if they have too many.
I don't trust HCL, but that's not really any different from any other company, including SF.
fao+1otnWc08
I've listened to politicians too much to not understand people when they are lying to you and trying to make you think they are being honest.
They said "100% of the rebadged won't leave the State Farm account".
GREAT!!!! Who is the lucky person who gets to stay?
Massive layoffs announced.
Sounds like if you have institutional knowledge you get a reprieve for now. Everyone else gets farmed out.
And tickets will just keep getting worsr
@fao "we're committed to finding you placement at another HCL engagement"
Of course some will stay. Most won't.
HCL did NOT state all rebadgers are out.
Seriously? In the department meeting they tried to say the opposite
Lol HCL just straight told all of the rebadges they're out
40 minutes in and none of the top questions have been addressed.
