Employee survey typically goes to plants every other year. Will go out next year

Not sure what's happening in other plants but no survey announced in ours and all their priority is in automation to reduce head count further.

Is there a survey for the production employees coming up, or does MR not think it is a good idea. What about Wee Pete, haven't heard from the lad, is he still fixing supply chain, wee man never stops, grab a coffee hen,

To the point of the previous post, this survey offers a section to add comments. If you click into the link at the bottom of that page, you can see what information is linked to your answers. Take a peek. Job grade, male/female, has direct reports, race, WYW selection are some of the info linked to your not-very-anonymous answers!

Setting a low note will push you directly to hours of training and discussion. If you like meetings do so. I tested already. An other time I tested the always average answer but now I have no No extra time as I am overloaded and I just discard the request. The result is visible once they evaluate your team of 5 people in an anonyme survey and you can evaluate your colleagues that I really great too.

New survey has place for adding comments which can later be voted on.

Whocares. The last survey we had was ages ago. Plant manager said we'd have a meeting to review results which never occurred. Half the questions were about your boss and our boss sat in the room behind our shoulders as we filled it out along with gossiping HR whispering around the corner. If you think that was ethical then you're an id--t 3M. Not to mention surveys don't even have comments. How fkn stupid? This is hands down the most unethical company I've ever worked for and I've worked for some shitters. No wonder you're failing to bankruptcy. Instead of always defending yourself perhaps you should listen to your employees.

Why bother with it? It's not like 3M Management, especially upper management will listen to anything us underlings have to say. The upper management views us employees simply as cost and ungrateful turds. There is no point to even answering the questions.

Everyone please be courageous and give the lowest scoring possible to every question. We need to send a strong signal to the top.

Yes. Every time the number is not in line with the number expected you gain a training and next time surely you will change your answer so that to not loose you precious time.

Surveys are the only way top management gets some feedback from worker bees.

Sure, they won't take any meaningful action, that is a given...but ...but ...they surely feel some pain in getting s.h.i.t.t.y feedback about their actions...and that by itself my friends is priceless.

So be bold, and honest and give them what they deserve!

The surveys are written in such a way that leadership will use the results to validate the trends that they believe they are already happening. Then they package the results and filter to the division leaders with their marching orders.

Same as it ever was.

I can save them the time…

Fire the entire leadership team and then all board members should resign.

They have done them for many, many years.

Fun game - Look at the structure of the questions. They are mostly worded that there is no truly 'negative' response possible. Even the 'bad' answers can be be the employees fault as much as 3Ms.

Example:
"Do you agree with the direction 3M is heading?"

  • An agree answer will be interpreted 100% as management is brilliant.
  • A disagree answer can be interpreted as 'the employee doesn't know the plan' or 'the employee doesn't know as much as management'.

Try it next time you take the questions. Try to find questions, if you can, where an employee can unequivocally say '3M leadership is sh-t-tier and not competent in their jobs'.

We would routinely get horrible scores for the division and the Big B and our VP would always explain them away as people did not understand the questions or the strategy. That's the SIBG way.

Doubt it. They do these every year. Haven’t seen any change from 3M in regards to these surveys except for maybe the employee tracks training and we all know how useless that was.
