I have just been here for 1 year and have so much anxiety working here.
Seems like every quarter, people are being thrown out.
We may have survived the 8/28/2023 and now I am looking at 9/25/2023 next apparently.
I can't live like this, this is really affecting my mental health.
My LL6 is useless and we are already so understaffed. I don't know what to do.
@1zxt+1ormFiv8 that's a lie. There were layoffs on 8/28.
The leaders are too busy working on the UAW issue. Once they have reach an agreement, they'll concentrate on what's left of us salaried/pensioned employees to make up the difference.
You didn’t survive 8/28 because there were no layoffs. It is all make believe by the strings in this site.
The reality is all corporates restructure. This is business. Automotive is in a transition period, so it is happening more frequently. But that is to be expected.
So the folks that always predict layoffs and keep missing dates are in fact grade “C” most of the time and they know they will get laid off.
Do your work. Be ethical. Invest in learning new skills every now and then. Be nice to everybody so you can build a network to rely on when needed. And your professional life will be ok.
Just know that the dates on this site are accurate about 10% of the time. Don't take them too seriously until people report receiving the 15 min meeting invites.
It is unfortunate that you only joined a year ago because this has been a brutal couple years. Morale is in the toilet for obvious reasons and I honestly don't have any good advice besides try to keep your head down and be financially prepared to be cut. Nothing you can do will change the outcome so there is no need to stress over it.
Even in model e, “management” is replacing US engineers with LCC.
If you are in Mexico, you can feel confident.
If you are in the US….beware….
Model e will accelerate the downfall of Ford. EV is not the future. Better options will soon arrive. So don't feel over confident in Model e.
OP, do you work in Model e? If so, you should feel more confident in your job security than elsewhere in the company. Ford's future lies in Model e and therefore will be the best organization in the company to build your career and future.
Legacy areas are more likey to see reductions regularly over time.
Worked there 15 years. Every year there was a 10% task. If you work hard, don't worry. If they lay you off, it is their loss and you will be okay. If you don't get laid off, you have to thru same thing next year. Try not to worry too much. The daily grind is enough stress to deal with.
Unfortunately, that's the new reality. I suggest everyone always keep their resumes updated, and do all the networking (in and out of Ford) they can. Never stop looking for something better.
