Thanks to the experiences and skills I have received from senior TAC colleagues and help from my former managers, I have found a new job as developer. I want to share my latest findings in the job market and my suggestions on TAC.
Recent years, there's a trend using automation to replace human interventions. This idea is good but there's lots of superstitions such as NOC or TAC can be replaced by automation. I can in some companies including FANG, they tried to use small SRE groups to replace NOC and related network engineers. But in the past several years, they had so many huge outages, and without NOC and hands-on networking engineers, those companies can't recover soon and caused huge losses.
And recently if you check on LinkedIn, you can see an interesting fact, that Meta and Google begin hire NOC engineers with very high salary. This told us, the traditional role setup has been proven by the job market. Automation can't simply replace humans. Each one has its own unique applications. And also we should not forget that engineering are all based upon physics, and we know the soul of physics is try and error and hands-on. If you really talk to senior software engineers, many if not all are very hands-on. Programming and simulation and hands-on practices are just different sides of the science. We shall not discriminate one or another.
TAC brothers, please DO NOT lose your hearts! You need to carry on those good TAC traditions and study on job market and find the opportunities. New TACs need to learn as much as you could, stay close to each others, learn TAC traditions! Don't be hurry, stay calm and cool and most importantly, pray to Lord!
God Bless you TAC all and BU and other Ciscoers :)
