Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Job Market is Very Tight

With looming layoffs at Schwab, I know a number of us are trying to be as proactive as possible by looking outside for opportunities. It is tough out there and every day at work is excruciatingly hard on our mental health.

I’m noticing some People Leaders and higher org leadership being particularly harsh and irritable. I get that the uncertainty is taking a toll but that is making it even harder.

It’s a tough time and one way or other, we will get through it. Just wanted to post this so no one feels like it’s their fault for not easily finding another role.

I wanted to keep accruing vacation in case I get laid off but have decided not to do that. I am taking time around the upcoming long weekend and am going to do my best to enjoy with family and not think about layoffs.

If you have floating holidays, use those first before vacation. I believe floating holidays balance. like sick time, is not paid out on termination.
