Save Every Piece of document that is important off the work laptop

To ALL Those who are thinking if they are impacted or not, irrespective move all your important documents - anything related off your work laptop. From what I saw for my teammates, the access was revoked the moment they stepped into the meeting.

No, it doesn’t vary by role. They know what moves off that laptop. Even more cybersecurity software installed in the last 60 days. Don’t risk it.

"They know what you move. That risks your severance. Don’t do it."

Does anyone have firsthand experience with this? Does this vary by role/level?

When I was let go in 2020 as part of the first wave they did turn off your access to your work laptop almost immediately.... I wanted to at least send some emails to some people and I couldn't
You literally don't work for those 60 day waiting for it they just pay you and in the meantime you could be getting yourself ready for the job hunt

Everyone laid off got 60 days pay but do work during that time. A severance package and 2 months of COBRA after the 60 days is up

You can use WinSCP to get files off you laptop and onto a local NAS via ssh. Even just an Ubuntu Live USB, spare computer, and external exFAT drive would work. Maybe a personal OneDrive account works but I know Google Drive is blocked.

My understanding was you got 60 days of employment from the date of termination, so why wouldn't your computer still work?

What ways you can move the data

Did that when layoffs began last year. They made us save all documents to the MS Cloud at the office. But this weekend, I will be sure to move/remove anything personal.

They've made it tough in that you can't use a thumb drive anymore but there are other ways to move the files I want.

Are you suggesting stealing company IP on the way out? Not a good career choice…

My biggest regret from last years layoff was losing access to my computer - right then and there. no goodbye emails, never was able to login again. i could of used some of the items on that computer to help study/refresher info for the next job interview for instance.
