Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Impact

Can we just stop this already? No one wants to be there. The sessions are not valuable. Now it’s the fun police coming in with this BS expense policy. No cabs or team dinners? So we just take buses and eat hors d’oeuvres at the lame events and same Vegas catered garbage food at mandalay? Can we save some LRs and not spend 500 million for a few egos? We. Don’t. Want. To. Be. There.

For the past 4 or 5 Impact/GSXs I’ve spent most of my time alone, avoided most all sessions and filled my time with swimming early in the morning (Mandalay bay is lovely at 7am for lap swimming, come find me), lunch out on my own, wondering around the strip and a bit of Gym before early night.

At home I am really into eating well and just all the food options quite depressing (the free stuff and almost anything you can buy is ultra processed cr-p).

Apart from perhaps a team dinner or meeting up in a small group of people I actually want to hang out with I don’t really know why I go. I have been lucky with sales champion / chairman’s to almost always have my own room too which helps avoiding the whole thing.

Don’t get me started on the chairman’s club trip with my wife. That was a really weird experience to watch grown adults and their partners fawn over our senior leadership.

I guess what I am trying to say is find a way to enjoy the trip, I never go to the sessions and I have never been called out on this. I might spend $500-700 of my own money on food and drinks but that makes it a pretty good value trip.

Great to see Cisco’s commitment to CO2 reduction and sustainability, flying out 20000 people to Vegas. No lectures about sustainability from Cisco required, thank you.

It's a party. I'm going to be there! Yet I feel a bit bad when we are all partying and we know others go laid off. But then, that is how Cisco works! We party while we sc--w people by laying them off. Crazy, but true. Like someone else said, the ELT has executive privilege, and Impact is one time where the ELT invite Sales in for their parties. So I'm going! It's a blast!!!!

I attended the first couple of GSX/Impacts and then stopped. Walking around all day in those cigarette smoke filled lobbies, looking at people try their best to ki$$ ar$e of anyone they can from upper management, listening to series after series of verbal or-a$m from people on stage who'd talk a lot without syaing anything, wondering out in the pollution filled, ugly Vegas strip - not my cup of tea. Prefer to be at home and coast.

Yes people do want to be there. Everyone I know is excited to go. We like seeing each other in person.

Plus you’re going to be following Palo Alto’s giant event. A week late and a dollar short.
