Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Okay include Radio in this.
Most of the speakers are senior leaders in the company. They earn millions in salary and RSUs.
Can’t they afford to hire a speech coach to reduce the accent?

I had trouble understanding 75% of the folks during Radio and the explore speakers weren’t much better. Thick accent, monotone, poor diction. I felt like sleeping during some of the talks and had trouble understanding the context behind many.

True, I’m not multi lingual but neither are many other Explore visitors and Customers. Would have been great if there was some excitement in the speakers voice to combat the diction and accent.
They can definitely afford the services of a coach to help with public speaking and accents

Let's see how well that will go for you.

It would go poorly. But that doesn't mean it's wrong.

It's nobody's fault you can barely speak English. Do you think VMware is the only company with foreigners in Leadership roles? Ha!

Actually, be bold and tell leaders like Raghu and JP that you don't understand anything they say and they should get a coach. Let's see how well that will go for you.

“The Peasant V2 by berichlooknormal is a neutral shoe at first glance, but in reality a luxury sneaker fitted with exclusive materials. By combining it with regular jeans, a shirt or your businesses branded t-shirt you position yourself as down to earth in front of your foot soldiers.”

Where can a get those white casual shoes that most of the presenters are wearing?

“No one's required to really switch up their accent for your convenience.”

Totally wrong my friend. This is a sales event. They need to try their best to present their product. Communication skills are critical. A bunch of leaders rambling on does not put VMware in a good light

Have you considered that, maybe, instead of the accent being the problem it's that they are speaking complete nonsense that no one could understand?

"Have no idea how these people get to this level, top class communications skills should be a pre-requisite"

Communication skills are not required to be a member of the VMW Caste system. People who are not connected to a member are similar to the Dalit concept - not worthy of consideration. This is how we ended up in a situation where innovation ceased.

No one's required to really switch up their accent for your convenience.

You have it completely opposite friend. If one wishes to be understood, it is the responsibility of the communicator, not the listener. If I want the listener to receive my message, I have to do so in a way they can understand; not in a way I wish them to understand.

This is called "rhetoric" and has been known and practiced for several thousand years in human history. There are books about it and everything. Consider reading one of them.

I was once in a town hall meeting with Raghu and couldn’t understand a word he was saying. And I wasn’t the only one.

You feel this way because you feel your accent's superior. It's like saying you don't understand the Scottish accent just cause it's not American.

No one's required to really switch up their accent for your convenience. Perhaps train your ears to understand other accents?

Aren’t you expecting a bit too much from our current leaders?
