Wasn't a merger announcement going to be made in Aug? Two thirds of the month have happened and no announcement yet.

Merger cant close with ongoing lawsuits. WD must close the multiple suits for defective SSDs that were just filed before any deal.
Well, a big project has just been cancelled. The plan was long term for this particular project, but yet it didn't survive. I won't be surprised if Kioxia merger has something to do with it. At least 100 engineers were assigned to the project and I don't see where they will fit anywhere in the near future.
Toshiba will be privately held soon along with its 40% stake in Kioxia stake, a factor in any future merger timeline
