Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

HyVee is in hot water again.

HyVee is in hot water again for firing a re--rded person. HyVee mistreats all of their employees. It come as no big surprise that they have fired a re--rded person. HyVee wants to be the #1 place to work at while they stab all of their employees in the back and wonder why they can’t keep staff. As far as the hR manager that fired that disable person. She didn’t make the call herself. I’m sure she got the okay from her district director.

If you were truly concerned for the person who was let go vs railing against Hy-Vee, you wouldn’t be in here, or anywhere else, using the r-word. I see plenty of faults with Hy-Vee but their overall treatment of and attitude toward employees with special needs is not one of them.

This is coming from someone who worked for Hy-Vee long-term and left for a myriad of reasons, but also has a sibling with disabilities who has been employed by Hy-Vee (and has been treated very well) for the better part of the last 20 years.

Not sure what the implication about profitability even means, but it's not about numbers. It's about outcomes. The overwhelming number of clients that Hy-Vee employs leave there with marketable skills and a better outlook on their lives and their futures. Stop being so negative. Did you get fired or something?

HyVee is currently the largest employer in Iowa, so it stands to reason they'd be the largest employer of disabled folks. And it also stands to reason your program would be a lot less profitable if HyVee didn't hire from your pool of clients.

I work for a job training program that helps people with intellectual disabilities (those are folks that id--ts like you like to call "re--rds"). Hy-Vee hires, trains and currently employs more clients than any company in Iowa. Call an advocate anywhere in the Midwest and ask them. Call their parents. You won't, of course. You'd rather spout cr-p that you read on the internet.
