I'm beginning to think I'm the only one left who still likes working here. Sure, I get the worries about layoffs, we're all in the same boat there. But other than that, I'm actually pretty content. The pay's good, the benefits are decent, and I'm doing what I love.
I respect everyone's right to feel the way they do, but it's a bit disheartening to see so many of you unhappy in a place that used to be considered top-notch to work at.

Im assuming whoever posted this has a good manager and probably out there playing soccer for two hours during the day never having to work a single holiday.ive always felt that there was always two pioneers. Of course the pay is what keeps most everyone there
It was a good place to make money as long as you didn’t lose sight of the pockets of toxic behaviors! I saw many get railroaded!
Plano Jim please confirm the layoff package will include a veggie tray with ranch dressing instead of jelly of the month memberships
It's the same illiterate boomer who keeps posting nonsense in other threads, don't mind him. "Hidden Valley office," haha...
Where are you seeing the Bloomberg story about the deal being official? I'm not seeing that...
Hidden Valley is the HQ of the salad dressing oligarch down the street
October 7, 2023, I guess the Dallas Morning News journalist Sue Ambrose SAmbrose@DallasNews.com, and Bloomberg made the rumor official this morning. Mama Pioneer is being acquired by Exxon Mobil Corporation. I suspect both companies are well into the financial and environmental due diligence and defect remediation, HR knows what each package value will be and who will be asked to take a position with Exxon and move to Spring, Texas. Both Exxon and Pioneer will take 4th quarter write-down for the M&A to close in 2023, final post-closing 1st quarter 2024. Probably the last items to tie up is negotiating closure with the City of Irving on the 2016 tax abatement to build Pioneer's new Hidden Valley Office, the fix is just money. Most likely those that keep a job with be moved to Spring, Texas (Woodlands) or Midland, the Hidden Valley Office will be closed by 1st or 2nd quarter 2024. Mergers are so disruptive on a career and a family when Pioneer closed Offices in South Texas, Barnett, Colorado and Amarillo, not sure if there is an easy way to do it. But you have time to decide; do I want to move, or do I stay in DFW and job hunt? I am guesting the average age of Pioneer's employees is 40 years of age so most need to work another 26-27 years. I don't know why these things occur around the holidays. In my 40 years I have packaged twice and moved on four times. There is a saying in the oilfield, "The closer you are to the wellhead the more likely you will survive." Start working on your Plan B, trust your own skillset, and don't believe anything until you get it in writing.
There are definitely a bunch of shi--y managers that don't know what they're doing or don't do anything at all. The second part of the problem are all the bitter people who should have left years ago but are just sitting around being leeches with awful attitudes. Looks like the choice is going to be made for them finally!
You’re probably in a department not plagued by politics and narcissistic managers, probably one with low turnover. You also mentioned doing what you love, many people at the company get moved into roles they have no interest in against their will. The culture has changed since 2019.
I agree. I love working here & doing what I love. But, this is the 4th time in last 5 years wondering what my future holds. Very stressful!
Try not to take it to hard when Pioneer doesn’t exist in a few days…….
